AURORA performed at the Governor's Ball, a music festival in New York City. NYdailynews.com got some words with Aurora:
“Childish and innocent, but very sensual and grown. Wise, but playful. Beautiful, but disgusting. A huge creature, but really human and tiny,” the 21-year-old, born Aurora Aksnes, told the Daily News on Saturday at Governors Ball.
It’s this mentality that she hopes will also translate to her fans, especially women, and allow them to embrace their own contrasts.
“You can have hair under your arms and be a feminist, but still enjoy when people open the door for you,” she said.
Aurora said she believes society is moving away from the stigma that female musicians need to be either sexy or lovesick.
I really like embracing all of those sides,” she said. “It makes me feel so vivid … because I am just a girl on stage, but I also am something bigger than myself.”
