This song story will be quite different from the others. I hope it's OK. As far as I know, Aurora have never performed this one live, and she has spoken very little about it.
The most obvious assumption to make about this song, is its connection to the song "A Different Kind Of Human", where she have the lyrics "Mothership will take you home" a few times. "Mothership" also nicely makes for a good way to conclude the step 1 and step 2.
But looking at her previously released songs, there might be some other hints on what's going on. In "Awakening", one of her first songs, the young Aurora begins her journey: "Going on this journey, determined to complete". But what journey? In 1899, Kate Chopin released a book called "The Awakening". Its renowned for its impact on giving woman her rights to pursue her own happiness - actually one of the first feminist books written, and it ends with the main character drowning herself in the ocean. Aurora ends the song "Awakening" with: "When a shiny light hit her eye, And she turned around and climbed towards the sky".
In "Runaway" she wants to find a way home. What Aurora means by "Home" isn't that clear in this song, but in the song "Home" she gets "stuck where the road has no end", but later in the same song: "wrapped inside a cocoon made of flesh and bones - Doesn't really matter where you come from - We are home". This could be a reference to "Animal Soul", where she remember being born, but it's also possibly a reference to the cocoons where butterfly evolves. In the same matter we find in Alien movies...
Aurora have only made one reference to "Mothership" in her interviews, as I have seen.
"There is one more song afterwards, which is a hint for way, way, way more forward in the future"
And I am quite certain she didn't speak about "The Gods We Can Touch", as she said this was an in-between album. But I'm certain is still on her journey, and that "Mothership" will make even more sense to us in the future.

I always conclude hearing A different kind of human with this song. For me having lost my wife makes it emotional every time I hear them. That there is going to be a connection with one of her eight messages that is yet to be released to our world is exciting! And to know she already has it available in her own world...
