I believe we all have something to learn from the conversation between Aurora and her mother. As we will see in today's newsletter, art and shared passions can have positive impacts on how other people feel about themselves and the world they live in. Aurora’s mother, having listened to her music, acknowledged its positive impact on her emotions. She encouraged Aurora to share her gift with the world, noticing and set to words its potential to help others. "If your music can make me feel like this, it may also help other people. If you have the ability to help someone, it would not be a good thing to keep it for yourself," her mother so wisely said.
A MOTHER’S BLESSING
Talking of Role Models, who are role models for you?
My mama, of course.
Why?
Because she's just so wise and so giving, and very strong. She gets all her happiness from how happy her children are. She's a great mother, great human.1
Her mother entered Aurora’s room one day, when she was playing the guitar. She doesn't really play the guitar, but then she did. She listened for a while, and said, "This is fine." She saw the lyrics and thought they were very nice. Later, after her mother discovered her songs, Aurora played more in the living room and in front of her family. This was Aurora’s first step2.
After her school performance of "I Had A Dream" was uploaded to Facebook, and her success with "Puppet", different managements made contact with Aurora and her family. At first she turned them all down. She had no dream of being an artist, her goal was to finish high school and become a scientist3.
One day, spring 2013, Aurora’s mother recieved a call from Geir Luedy, head manager at Made Management. They had tried multiple times to get a meeting with Aurora, but Aurora didn't wish to.4
Aurora’s mother later spoke with Aurora. She told her that her music made her feel good. Aurora’s mother had listened to Aurora’s music, and her emotions had been touched in a healing way.
But then my mother said that my music made her feel pain, but in a nice way. I think she said to me for the first time that my music was like a language to her soul. She said that I should share it with people because it's selfish to keep medicine to yourself. You have to share it because it might do good for like one person out there. I thought, "Okay, I'm gonna try." And then, yeah, it just happened.5
After giving it some thought, Aurora finally agreed to meet Geir and the management, probably not promising anything, but she would at least listen to what they had to say and then decide on what to do. It was also important for Aurora that the people she was to meet were someone she felt she could like and trust.
This was how she finally met the management in Bergen. We will continue later with the first meeting and her building up towards the famous concert at By:Larm 2014, where she also received some prizes 🙂.
TALENT UNLEASHED
In summing up this part of Aurora's journey, we see a vivid illustration of how a mother's guidance and wisdom can be a powerful catalyst for self-discovery and growth. Aurora's mother, recognizing the profound impact of her daughter's music, encouraged her not just to embrace her talent, but to share it with the world. This story reminds us that sometimes, the encouragement we need to step into our potential comes from those who know and love us best.
Aurora's journey thus far, marked by both personal and artistic growth, is a testament to the magic that unfolds when we heed the wisdom of our role models and dare to share our talents with the world.
Have a day
