I admit it—I don’t put much faith in fate. The idea of a path already laid out for me feels hard to believe. Yet, sometimes, strange and surprising things happen that feel like pure magic. The story of Aurora and her sisters is one of those tales.
Aurora had trouble in the beginning with letting strangers touch her face, but her older sister Miranda, already a trained makeup artist, stepped in. And who could understand Aurora’s unique, “out-there”, fashion-sense better than Viktoria, her other sister, a creative fashion designer? Their bond grew into something far deeper than just being sisters—so much so that Aurora once said: 1
“Like water and sun for a flower. Ever since I was little, they have been role models for me, and now they are my best friends.”
The love, respect, and joy they share, along with the way their talents come together to support each other’s careers, feels almost magical. Perhaps there is an invisible force at work, bringing them closer.
Miranda - The patient make-up artist
It does feel kind of fated that Miranda should take lessons in playing the piano during her tweens and early adolescence. Bringing the sound of it into the house during Auroras first childhood years made Aurora yearn for it when it was quiet. Miranda used to practice playing at home, but probably quit when the family moved from Høle to Osøyro when Aurora was 3-4 years. At some point, the power “ON” button broke, and Miranda had the piano placed in their attic. How Aurora found it later is another story…
Miranda is originally a certified teacher, but she didn’t want to work as one. She rather would do something more creative and dreamed of working with make-up. Now she is doing this full-time by doing make-up for photoshoots, TV-appearences and film-making (music videos)2
Being in close cooperation and relationship with Aurora does not come without benefits for the sisters, of course. Their mutual partnership has given Aurora the image she wants to, and Miranda has represented a safe haven when the world around her was swirling. Miranda, on her side, have been introduced and welcomed to arrangements and places that have given her own career a boost. She even has her own online make-up- and skin care-store: “Miranda’s Skin Care”.
Viktoria - The creative fashion designer
When the january-born Viktoria was 6 years old, she was asked whether she wanted to postpone school for a year, and she immidiately said “yes”. She had just gotten a little sister, and before that she had accompanied her mom to the ultrasound throughout the whole pregnancy: “Wow, she was so funny already as a baby! I think I grew an extra, overprotective gene for her that year,” says Viktoria in an interview with VG.
Both Aurora and Miranda describe Viktoria as a very creative person. She is skilled at sewing and crafting, and Aurora relied on her expertise when she needed help finding her own style.
“I have always had my own style, or thing. Ever since I was little,” Aurora points out. “Viktoria can make anything as long as it is physically possible. She wants me to feel comfortable, but also try new things. I am very fond of everything that is special and innovative. So Viktoria is the best.”
Aurora’s first music video (Runaway) was recorded in Bergen and in the family Aksnes’s garden in Os. The clothes for this video was designed by Viktoria, and was special-made for Aurora and this video. The video served as a promo for Aurora, and had the intention of showing the world Auroras artistic talent.
Viktoria has a blog: “Everybody's perfect, nobody's human”
Here she writes about topics like mental health, her achievements, love and being in a relationship. She have also written about her pride in being a mother and her emotions on pregnancy and the challenges that comes with it.
Like Miranda, Viktoria also have an online shop: “Her” by Viktoria Aksnes . In their “About page” she states: “Established in 2014. Viktoria Aksnes has been working mainly on commission customizing tailored outfits. Characteristics include effortless elegance and clean lines designed with a vision of giving people confidence to be themselves through comfortable versatile fashion.”
A fun, short side-story
Back in 2017, the band "Major Parkinson" released the single "Blackbox". The single also made it to the last track on the album with the same name. Both Miranda and Viktoria was involved in making the music video for this single, and Viktoria played as an actor in it. You can read more about this here:
Love between the siblings
Miranda is described as a down-to-earth and patient person who has a deep love for music. She is very protective of Aurora and always wants the best for her. Viktoria is described as having a strong personality, but at the same time, she is warm, affectionate, and caring toward her loved ones. Aurora highlights Viktoria's ability to be both tough and supportive as invaluable.
The two older sisters were worried that her strangeness, especially her out-there dress sense, would make her a target for bullies. “We were so scared that it was going to be tough for you to go to high school, but everybody loved you.”3
I really enjoy the statement from Aurora when she described her sisters as the “water and sunlight to a flower”. This shows that they are considered to be irreplaceable sources of nourishment in her life. Their presence offers her more than just family bonds. Here Aurora says that they are feeding the roots that keep her grounded in the whirlwind of fame.
We see that, to Aurora, her sisters are essential in managing the pressures that come with her rise in fame. Their never-wavering support, love, and understanding provide a sense of normality within the chaos. With them by her side, she finds safety and balance, allowing her to blossom without losing herself in the claims and demands of the music industry.
What makes their relationship even more special is their in-between roles. Viktoria and Miranda are not only her sisters, but also her best friends and collaborators. They both shows and speak about how proud they are of Aurora’s success, they actively contribute their own talents to support her journey. Together, the sisters stands as an unshakable foundation, helping Aurora to remain true to herself and her artistry.

The river of creative, social media managing flows in many different directions. Zuza, part polish - part british, is a warrior whom has focused her attention to create art. Hers in the form of digital drawings. Just look at this:
Like so many of Zuza’s drawings, I love the use of soft colors on and around Aurora. Even here, where she is surrounded by flames. Her expression is calm, and to me (in this picture) she seems to have found some kind of peace in the midst of chaos in the world. Go check out Zuza’s other digital art as well. They all seem to capture Auroras magical nature, her mannerisms and her emotions.
Final words
Maybe there is something special going on in the universe? Maybe Aurora have been granted the attention from some higher mights? Lovely!
Thanks! Do you know if Miranda is still with Aurora on the WHTTH tour for the make up? She is not mentioned or to be seen in behind the scenes recordings...
