I’ve heard (and watched) her say this many times in many interviews and I think it is one of the best pieces of advice (among many) that she has given. Some days the circumstances of our lives prevent us from accomplishing what we might consider the bare minimum of what we had planned or wanted to do. But instead of wallowing in defeat, we need to remind ourselves that we have given ourselves the gift of at least one more day to try to accomplish those things, and that in itself is a reason to go on without feeling guilt or shame. The “extreme sport” of being human (as she says) is hard enough without putting unnecessary pressure or unrealistic goals on ourselves. It is so simple yet so right.
